Frequently Asked Questions

Let's try to answer as many of your questions as we can, before you even have to ask!

Getting Started
01.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or noticing patterns you’d like to change, therapy may be a helpful next step. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people start therapy to better understand themselves, improve coping skills, or navigate stress, relationships, or life transitions. If you’re unsure, a consultation can help determine whether therapy feels like a good fit for your needs.

What can I expect in the first therapy session?

The first session is focused on getting to know you. We’ll talk about what brings you in, your goals for therapy, and any relevant background information. You’re not expected to have everything figured out; this is a collaborative and supportive conversation. I’ll also explain how therapy works, answer any questions you have, and begin developing a plan that aligns with your goals and comfort level.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes, we offer a 10-minute phone call consultation to answer any questions you may have, explore next steps, talk about scheduling options, and discuss payment/insurance expectations.

Insurance and Payment
02.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield & Blue Care Network of Michigan, Aetna, United HealthCare/Optum, and Priority Health. We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid insurance.

How much will my therapy session cost with insurance?

Short-answer: it depends. The cost of therapy through insurance is based on your individual plan. You may have a co-pay (flat-rate) which is typically somewhere between $10 and $40. You may have a deductible to meet before paying a co-insurance (typically 0%-30% of the insurance company's rate for our session). Or, your sessions might be 100% covered by insurance.

What if my insurance is out-of-network?

If your insurance is out of network, we offer a self-pay option.

What are your self-pay rates?

Individual sessions: $150 for the intake session and $125 for follow-up sessions.

Couples counseling sessions: $250 for the intake session and $225 for follow-up sessions.

Do you provide superbills?

Not typically, though we are willing to discuss this with a potential client. â€‹

Therapy Process
03.

How often will we meet?

This depends on a variety of factors such as therapist recommendation, client preference, and scheduling availability and can be discussed with your therapist at the intake session. Most clients meet weekly or bi-weekly. Some clients meet monthly for maintenance once therapy goals have been met.

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes.

What issues do you commonly work with?

This depends on the therapist, though both Amanda and Savannah commonly work with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, burnout, and relationship stressors. Check out Savannah's and Amanda's info pages and our Services page to find out more.

What therapy approaches do you use?

Both Savannah and Amanda are skilled and trained in various different approaches, and use what's often referred to as an "ecclectic approach" which just means that each client is met with an approach that is tailored to their specific strengths and needs.
