ADHD Assessments

Find clarity. Understand your brain.

If you’ve spent years wondering why everyday tasks feel harder than they seem for everyone else, you’re not alone. Many adults with ADHD go undiagnosed until later in life, often after years of struggling with focus, organization, procrastination, emotional regulation, or feeling like they’re constantly falling behind despite working incredibly hard.

Our comprehensive ADHD assessments are designed to provide answers—not labels. Through a structured evaluation process, we’ll explore your symptoms, personal history, and daily functioning to determine whether ADHD is contributing to the challenges you’re experiencing.

You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how your brain works, personalized recommendations, and a clear roadmap for moving forward. Whether you’re seeking accommodations, medication management with another provider, or simply wanting clarity, our goal is to help you feel informed, understood, and empowered.

ADHD Therapy

Practical strategies for a busy brain.

Living with ADHD can affect far more than attention. It can impact relationships, careers, self-esteem, emotional regulation, time management, and the constant feeling that you’re never quite reaching your potential.

ADHD therapy isn’t about trying harder—it’s about finding strategies that actually work for your brain.

Together, we’ll identify patterns that keep you stuck and develop practical tools to improve focus, organization, emotional regulation, motivation, and follow-through. We’ll also address the shame, perfectionism, anxiety, and self-doubt that often accompany ADHD.

Our approach combines evidence-based interventions with compassion and collaboration, helping you build sustainable habits that fit your life—not someone else’s expectations.

EMDR Therapy

Healing beyond the past.

Traumatic experiences can leave your mind and body feeling stuck—as though the past continues to show up in your present. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process difficult memories so they no longer carry the same emotional weight.

Originally developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, EMDR has been extensively researched and is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and other distressing life experiences.

How EMDR Works

Our brains are naturally designed to heal from difficult experiences. Most stressful events are processed over time, but when something is especially overwhelming, that healing process can become interrupted.

EMDR uses gentle bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or alternating sounds—to help your brain resume its natural processing. As memories are reprocessed, they often become less emotionally intense, allowing you to remember what happened without feeling like you’re reliving it.

What to Expect

Your first sessions focus on getting to know you, understanding your goals, and determining whether EMDR is the right fit. If it is, your therapist will guide you through the process at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

One of the things many people appreciate about EMDR is that you don’t have to share every detail of your story for therapy to be effective. While you’ll identify experiences you’d like to work through, the focus is on helping your brain heal—not repeatedly talking through the trauma.

EMDR can be used on its own or integrated into traditional talk therapy, depending on your needs and goals.

A Path Toward Healing

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting what happened—it means no longer feeling controlled by it.

Our goal is to help you process painful experiences, reduce their emotional impact, and move forward with greater confidence, peace, and resilience. With the right support, it is possible to feel more present, more connected, and more like yourself again.

First Responders

At Rebuilding Resilience in Troy, Michigan, we provide specialized counseling services for first responders and healthcare professionals who face the emotional and psychological demands of serving others. We understand that repeated exposure to trauma, critical incidents, high-pressure environments, and shift work can have a significant impact on mental health, relationships, and overall well-being.

Our therapists offer confidential, evidence-based treatment tailored to the unique experiences of police officers, corrections officers, probation and parole agents, firefighters, paramedics, emergency dispatchers, and medical professionals. We recognize the culture of first responder professions and strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can speak openly without fear of judgment.

Many first responders hesitate to seek counseling because of concerns about stigma, confidentiality, or potential career implications. At Rebuilding Resilience, we are committed to providing compassionate, professional care that respects the unique challenges of these professions while helping clients build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and improve their quality of life.

We provide support for concerns including:

Trauma Therapy

Healing is possible.

Trauma can change the way you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Whether you’ve experienced a single traumatic event or years of chronic stress, your mind and body may still be carrying the effects.

You might notice anxiety, emotional numbness, intrusive memories, difficulty trusting others, people-pleasing, irritability, or feeling constantly on edge. These are common responses to overwhelming experiences—not signs that something is wrong with you.

Our trauma-informed approach provides a safe, supportive environment where healing can happen at your pace. Together, we’ll help you understand your nervous system, process difficult experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and rebuild a sense of safety and confidence.

You don’t have to carry what happened forever.

Anxiety Counseling

Quiet the constant worry.

Anxiety can show up in many different ways. For some, it’s racing thoughts and overthinking. For others, it’s panic attacks, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or constantly preparing for the worst.

When anxiety takes over, even everyday decisions can feel exhausting.

In therapy, we’ll work together to understand what’s fueling your anxiety while developing practical skills to help you feel calmer, more grounded, and more confident. Using evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, we’ll help you challenge anxious thinking patterns, regulate overwhelming emotions, and respond to life’s stressors with greater resilience.

Our goal isn’t to eliminate every anxious thought—it’s to help anxiety stop running your life.

Depression Counseling

Rediscover hope.

Depression is more than feeling sad. It can leave you feeling exhausted, disconnected, overwhelmed, or like you’ve lost interest in the things you once enjoyed.

Even simple tasks can begin to feel impossible.

Therapy provides a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re okay. Together, we’ll explore the factors contributing to your depression while helping you reconnect with your strengths, values, and sense of purpose.

Using compassionate, evidence-based treatment, we’ll work toward rebuilding motivation, improving mood, strengthening relationships, and helping you create meaningful change—one step at a time.

Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Stress + Burnout Treatment

Find your way back to balance.

Many people spend so much time taking care of everyone else that they lose sight of themselves. Chronic stress and burnout can leave you feeling emotionally drained, overwhelmed, irritable, exhausted, or disconnected from the life you worked so hard to build.

Whether your stress comes from work, parenting, caregiving, relationships, or simply trying to keep up with life’s demands, you don’t have to keep pushing through alone.

In therapy, we’ll identify what’s contributing to your burnout and develop realistic strategies to reduce stress, establish healthier boundaries, improve emotional resilience, and reconnect with what matters most.
